Rugby Football Union Chief Executive Ian Rittchie has ruled out Sir Clive Woodward returning to English Rugby for now after the World Cup winning coach left the British Olymopic Association.
England's RFU will host the 2015 Rugby World Cup and Ritchie has stressed the importance rather of tapping into the skills of those who helped to make the recent Olympics the success they were.
The RFU are curently undergoing an independent performance review into it's performance department but changes after the review appear to be unlikely.
When asked at a media briefing whether the RFU would make a nove for Woodward now that he is available as the review could open the door for current performance director Rob Andrew's exit and Woodward's arrival Ritchie avoided talking about England Rugby most succesful coach.
"We do not have a vacancy and there is no point in talking about the abstract," he told Guardian.
"I respect totally what Clive did in rugby and the Olympics, but I am not going to get into hypotheticals."
"I am very happy with the way things are progressing at the moment."
The RFU is however believed to be advertising for a head of athletic performance.
